DEBUNKING BOXING MYTHS AT SWEAT SCIENCE

While boxing is a growing sport among our local community, there are a lot of misconceptions surrounding it. Don’t let this myths shy you away from picking up this beautiful sport.

MYTH
Boxing is a man’s sport.

FACT
We have a balanced ratio of men to women at our studio. In some classes, you might see even more women than men. And don’t be fooled for they do pack a punch!

MYTH
Boxing is only an upper body workout.

FACT
Boxing is a whole body workout especially when you’re using a lot of leg muscles for footwork and engaging your core when executing the different combinations.

MYTH
You’ll have to take a punch in boxing sessions.

FACT
Most of our classes involves zero contact despite being technically sound. During our partner drills, we are punching towards our partner’s gloves instead of the face. Rest assured, you are not heading to work with a bruised face.

MYTH
Boxing is a just another cardio session.

FACT
Boxing is a mixed of cardiovascular and muscular endurance. Boxing fitness provides mental health benefits too- a great stress reliever to many while helping them to increase their self-esteem.

It's essential for us to address these myths and misconceptions to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for participants of all backgrounds and fitness levels. Boxing fitness can be an excellent way to get in shape, relieve stress, and have fun while learning new skills.
